Clear Adhesive and Clear Vinyl Are Different
- Face film: the layer you print on. It may be white or clear.
- Adhesive: the layer that sticks to the surface. It may be grey, black or clear.
- Release liner: the backing paper you remove before installation.
Clear adhesive under white film still gives a white graphic. For a see-through window graphic, match a clear face film, a suitable clear adhesive and the right ink coverage.
For coverage, inspect the film after removing the liner and applying it. Backing paper can hide show-through that becomes visible after installation.

A 6-Step Sample Check Before Your Roll Order
- Pick the real surface. Use the board, glass or painted panel from the job.
- Prepare it. Clean and dry it, and check that old graphics are firmly attached.
- Print a small test. Add solid colours and light colours. Include unprinted areas: white areas on white film and clear areas on clear film.
- Apply each sample. Remove the liner and use the same installation method.
- Compare the finish. Check show-through, colour, edges and clarity in the required light.
