What Is Bubble Free Printable Vinyl?

Bubble free printable vinyl is commonly used to describe self-adhesive print film with small air-release channels on the adhesive side. These channels help trapped air move toward the edges as you apply squeegee pressure. It is also called air-release vinyl or air-egress vinyl.

The benefit is easier air removal during installation. Choose the film, adhesive and print system for the job, then use the recommended fitting method for a smooth finish. Request a sample to check the selected model’s adhesive and liner.

Choose Vinyl for Your Application

Air release helps most when fitting larger graphics, where trapped air takes more time to work out. Start with the real surface and graphic size.

UNISIGN application photos show uses of self-adhesive vinyl. Ask for a model matched to your specific surface and design.

For deep recesses and complex vehicle shapes, ask for a film approved for those areas. For see-through glass graphics, explore printable window films.

Air Release, Removable and High Tack: What Changes?

Each term describes a different feature. Select air release for installation, then choose the adhesive and film for the surface and service life.

FeatureWhat it doesChoose it when
Air release / bubble-freeHelps air escape under squeegee pressure. You want easier fitting of larger graphics.
Removable adhesiveSupports planned removal under stated conditions. The graphic has a defined removal date. See removable vinyl options.
High tack adhesiveProvides stronger grab or bond on approved surfaces. The surface needs more adhesion. See high tack printable vinyl.
Grey adhesiveHelps hide the surface behind the graphic. You need better cover over an existing colour. See grey adhesive vinyl.
Polymeric filmDescribes the face-film construction.Compare film stability and the shapes approved for the project.

Air release alone does not specify removal performance, adhesive colour or suitability for deep curves. You can compare 80 micron printable vinyl options or browse the full self-adhesive vinyl range.

Printing and Lamination

Both models list four ink types. Match the printer profile, drying or curing process and laminate to the exact roll before production.

Print systemCheck on your sample
Solvent / eco-solventPrint quality and the ink supplier’s drying time before lamination.
UVInk adhesion, cure and flexibility after the graphic is fitted.
LatexProfile, curing temperature and liner flatness through your printer.
LaminationFilm, ink and laminate compatibility; appearance, edge bond and wear.

For a matched finishing option, view cold lamination films and send your target use.

How to Apply Air-Release Printable Vinyl

Use the exact film’s installation guide. Air-release systems are usually applied dry. A clean, dry surface and firm, overlapping squeegee strokes help air move out through the channels.

  1. Check the surfaceConfirm the panel, paint condition and shape are suitable for the film.
  2. Clean and dryRemove dirt, grease and cleaner residue. Let the surface dry fully.
  3. Prepare the printComplete the required drying or curing and apply the chosen laminate.
  4. Align the graphicPosition it, then peel back a small part of the liner to begin.
  5. Squeegee toward the edgeUse firm, overlapping strokes and work in small sections.
  6. Finish and checkPress edges and overlaps. Follow the model guide for any heat and final inspection.

General industry reference: Avery Dennison air-release installation bulletin. This explains air-release installation principles; use UNISIGN’s current instructions for UV1501 or UV1801G.

Bubble Free Printable Vinyl FAQs

Is bubble-free vinyl the same as air-release vinyl?

In printable self-adhesive film, these terms usually describe channels that let trapped air move toward the edges during fitting. The channel design and adhesive vary by product.

Which UNISIGN models have the bubble-free feature?

UV1501 and UV1801G both list bubble-free performance. UV1501 uses an 80 μm polymeric film and 140gsm release paper. UV1801G is the 50 μm cast-vinyl option with 160gsm double-side PE coated paper.

What roll sizes can I order?

UV1501 lists widths of 0.914, 1.07, 1.27, 1.37 and 1.52m. Standard roll length is 50m; 25, 30, 75 and 100m lengths are also listed. Send your size and quantity for current availability.

Can I print UV1501 with latex ink?

Yes. The UV1501 product page lists latex along with solvent, eco-solvent and UV inks. Check a sample using your printer profile and curing settings.

Can I apply air-release vinyl wet?

Dry fitting is the usual method for air-release films. Follow the exact product guide before using water or application fluid.

Is bubble-free vinyl removable?

Air release and removability are separate features. If planned removal matters, tell UNISIGN the surface and removal date so the adhesive can be matched to the job.

Is bubble-free vinyl suitable for full vehicle wraps?

Choose by film construction and approved panel shape. Compare UV1501 polymeric vinyl with UV1801G cast vinyl. For deep recesses and complex curves, share the vehicle details to confirm the film and laminate system.

How long do these vinyl films last outdoors?

The product pages list 3–5 years for UV1501 and 5–7 years for UV1801G. Request the current durability and warranty terms for your climate, exposure, print, laminate and installation.

Does air-release vinyl still need a squeegee?

Yes. Squeegee pressure helps move air along the channels and brings the adhesive into contact with the surface. Work with firm, overlapping strokes.

Do you supply printed stickers or blank rolls?

This page is for unprinted wide-format vinyl rolls supplied to printers, sign makers and distributors. Send your roll size, printer and application for a material quote.
