PVC Banner Roll Price Guide: What Changes the Cost?

A PVC banner price per square metre is comparable only when eight quote fields match. Match the banner family, construction, base fabric, GSM, surface or backing, roll size, quantity and Incoterm.

This guide turns supplier quotations into one clear cost per m². It uses fixed formulas, a worked example and current UNISIGN roll specifications. It does not publish a live lowest-price claim.

Why Do Two PVC Banner Rolls With the Same GSM Have Different Prices?

GSM is total material mass, not a complete product specification. Two 440 GSM rolls carry different prices when their PVC construction, polyester yarn, thread density, finish, backing, flame-retardant grade, roll width or trade term differs.

  • Compare laminated with laminated and coated with coated.
  • Match yarn size and thread density.
  • Match matte, glossy, grey-back, black-back, translucent or double-sided structure.
  • Use the same width, length, quantity, currency, quotation date and Incoterm.

8 Fields That Set PVC Banner Roll Cost

Quote fieldWhat to writeWhy it changes the quoteComparison rule
1. Banner familyFrontlit, backlit, blockout or meshEach family uses a different layer structure and performance target.Compare within one family.
2. ConstructionLaminated or coatedThe production route and PVC-to-scrim structure differ.Keep the construction identical.
3. Base fabricYarn denier and thread densityThe polyester scrim changes material input and mechanical structure.Record warp, weft and density.
4. Nominal weightGSM from the product data sheetGSM records total mass per square metre.Use GSM with construction and scrim data.
5. Surface and backingMatte, glossy, grey back, black back, translucent or double-sideSurface and backing create separate material grades.Use one exact finish in every RFQ.
6. Performance gradeInk family, flame standard and report scopeSpecial formulation, testing and document scope belong to the named SKU.Write the required standard and report name.
7. Roll and orderUsable width × length, core, packing, rolls and total m²Roll format controls area, packing plan and shipment volume.Compare equal total area and packing.
8. Commercial termCurrency, quote date, MOQ, payment term, Incoterm and named placeEXW, FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP include different seller-paid costs.Convert every quote to one commercial scope.
Do not rank quotes by GSM alone. A 440 GSM laminated frontlit roll and a 440 GSM coated frontlit roll are two separate products. A 440 GSM blockout roll is a third product.

Coated vs Laminated: Keep Them as Separate Quote Classes

Laminated PVC banner

  • PVC films bond to the polyester base.
  • Used across economy and standard frontlit grades.
  • RFQ fields: yarn, density, GSM, finish, backing and roll size.

Coated PVC banner

  • PVC coating is applied to the polyester base.
  • Used across coated frontlit, backlit, blockout and mesh grades.
  • RFQ fields: yarn, density, GSM, coating structure, finish and roll size.

How to Calculate PVC Banner Cost per m²

1. Roll area

Width (m) × length (m) = roll m²

A 3.2 m × 50 m roll contains 160 m².

2. Material cost per m²

Roll price ÷ roll m²

A training price of USD 112 per 160 m² equals USD 0.70/m².

3. Price per linear metre

Price/m² × width

USD 0.70/m² × 3.2 m equals USD 2.24 per linear metre.

Worked landed-cost example

Training figures, not a current UNISIGN quotation: goods USD 112 + packing and export USD 8 + freight USD 60 + destination charges and duty USD 20 = USD 200 total. USD 200 ÷ 160 m² = USD 1.25 landed cost per m².

Square-foot conversion

  • 1 m² = 10.7639 sq ft
  • Price/m² = price/sq ft × 10.7639
  • Price/sq ft = price/m² ÷ 10.7639
Do not convert a product name such as “13 oz banner” into GSM for quotation control. Record the supplier’s GSM field and its tolerance. Nominal ounce labels are not a substitute for the product data sheet.

PVC Banner Roll Price FAQs

What is the price of a PVC banner roll per square metre?

There is no single specification-free price. A valid price per m² states the banner family, construction, scrim, GSM, finish, roll size, quantity, currency, quote date and Incoterm. Use roll price divided by roll area, then add logistics and import costs for landed cost.

Why does the same GSM receive different quotations?

GSM records total mass only. Coated versus laminated construction, yarn, thread density, finish, backing, performance grade, width, order volume and trade term create different quote lines.

Is a roll price enough for comparison?

No. Divide roll price by usable width × length. Then convert every quotation to the same currency, Incoterm and named place.

How do I compare EXW, FOB and CIF prices?

Use one trade term for all quotations. EXW excludes export delivery work listed under later terms. FOB includes delivery to the named shipment port under the rule. CIF includes cost, insurance and freight to the named destination port. Use the official ICC rule text in the purchase contract.

Does 13 oz always equal 440 GSM?

No. “13 oz” is widely used as a nominal banner grade name. For quote control, record the stated GSM and tolerance from the named product data sheet.

Does a wider roll change total cost?

Yes. Width changes area per linear metre, roll weight, printer yield, packing and freight volume. Compare width, length and total square metres together.

Should coated and laminated banner prices be compared directly?

No. Treat coated and laminated material as separate quote classes. Match the construction before comparing unit cost.

Why does this guide not publish a live lowest price?

A static lowest-price number loses its date, specification, quantity and trade-term context. This page provides fixed comparison rules. The sales quotation supplies the dated price for the exact roll and delivery scope.
