2.02m, 2m and 80 Inches: Check the Difference
Use millimetres when you order and check equipment. Similar width names are not the same size.
| Width name | Exact metric width | Difference from 2.02m |
|---|---|---|
| 2.00m | 2000mm | 20mm narrower |
| 2.02m | 2020mm | This roll format |
| 80 inches | 2032mm | 12mm wider |
Compare 1.52m, 1.82m and 2.02m Rolls
| Roll size | Area per 50m roll | When to compare it |
|---|---|---|
| 1.52m × 50m | 76m² | Smaller panels and 1520mm media workflows |
| 1.82m × 50m | 91m² | Layouts needing more width than 1.52m |
| 2.02m × 50m | 101m² | Wider panels with a matching print and finishing line |
A 2.02m × 50m roll has 25m² more nominal area than a 1.52m × 50m roll. Compare your actual layout, edge trim and finished cost before choosing. See the 1.52m wide vinyl buying guide for the narrower format.
When Does a Wider Roll Help?
1. Wider Single Panels
A wider roll can reduce joins when the full artwork, bleed and trim fit the usable print area.
Layout example: 1900mm across a 2020mm roll leaves 120mm in total for margins, bleed and trim. Actual printer requirements decide whether it fits.
2. Multiple Small Graphics
Place several graphics across the roll to compare layouts. Try both orientations when the artwork allows it.
- Include cutting space
- Allow for registration marks
- Compare leftover material
Choose the width with the best usable layout, not simply the largest roll.
Check the Full Printing and Finishing Line
A smooth wide-roll job starts before printing. Check these six items with the exact equipment specifications.
| Check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| 1. Media loading | The printer accepts 2020mm media; holders and take-up fit the roll. |
| 2. Image width | The design, bleed and trim fit within the usable print width. |
| 3. Roll handling | Core, roll diameter and weight match the machine limits. |
| 4. Lamination | The laminator and selected laminate can handle the required width. |
| 5. Cutting | The cutter or table allows for the graphic and registration marks. |
| 6. Print test | Approve feed, colour, drying or curing, finish and surface bond. |
The models list solvent, eco-solvent, UV and latex ink options. Send the exact printer and ink set to match a sample and starting workflow.

Glass & Window Advertising

Retail & Promotional Panels
- Truck advertising: select film for the actual flat body panel and exposure.
- Outdoor promotions: state the use period, surface and laminate needs.
- Changing campaigns: compare removable self adhesive vinyl for the removal plan.
For deep recesses or complex vehicle curves, ask for a film approved for that shape. Width alone does not determine wrap suitability.
From Model Selection to Repeat Orders

Give each approved roll a clear purchasing specification. This makes repeat orders easier to check.
- Record the model, finish and adhesive.
- Confirm width, length and packing.
- Request the current technical data sheet.
- Approve a print and application sample.
- Keep the sample and order details for repeat supply.

What to Include in a Sample Test
Use the same printer, ink, laminate and surface planned for production. Include these four checks:
- Print: fine text, gradients, solid black and your key brand colours.
- Feed: straight tracking, flatness and take-up over the test length.
- Finish: drying, lamination, cutting and the final panel size.
- Apply: surface bond, edge hold, background coverage and planned removal.
For bulk shipping, ask the quote to show rolls per pack, package size, roll weight and protective packing. Agree on labels showing the model, width and length so your team can identify each delivery.
2.02m Printable Vinyl FAQs
Is 2.02m vinyl the same as an 80-inch roll?
It is close, but not exact. 2.02m is 2020mm, or about 79.53 inches. A true 80-inch roll is 2032mm. Use the metric width for equipment and order checks.
Can I print a 2m-wide image on this roll?
Possibly. A 2000mm image leaves only 20mm across the roll before printer margins, bleed and trim. Check the usable print width and final artwork together.
Which UNISIGN models list 2.02m?
SAV12/140, SAV12G/140, SAV12B/140, SAV12/140R and SAV12HT/140. All five list 100 micron film and 140gsm liner. Confirm the exact finish, length and current availability in your quote.
How much material is in a 2.02m × 50m roll?
The nominal area is 101m². Usable output depends on your layout, margins, test prints and cutting. A 50m length is about 164ft, not 150ft.
Can I choose removable or high-tack adhesive?
Yes. Compare SAV12/140R for a removable option and SAV12HT/140 for a high-tack option. Send the surface and use period so the sample matches the job.
Can I request a sample before ordering wide rolls?
Yes. Ask for a labelled sample of the selected model. If you need a full-width feeding test, include that request with your printer details.
